Don't Just Admire the Position—Install the Qualities: A High-Value Fandom Guide

May 5, 2026 3 min read 3 views

Most people are fans of the result. They love the trophy, the fame, the million-dollar contract, and the highlight reels. They spend their lives talking about how "great" someone is, becoming a walking advertisement for another person’s legacy.

But admiring the position is a dead end. It doesn't change your life; it only makes you a more dedicated consumer. If you want to move the needle in your own reality, you have to stop looking at where they are and start looking at how they operate.

The "Installation" Mindset

A high-value fan treats their idols like a library of source code. You don't just watch the program run; you look at the code and install it in yourself.

Admire the Hard Work: If you’re a fan of a top athlete, don't just celebrate their win. Study their 4:00 AM wake-up calls, their diet, and their ability to stay focused under pressure.

Admire the Charisma: If you like a specific actor or public speaker, don't just watch their movies. Study how they hold a room, how they handle criticism, and how they articulate their points.

The Goal: To eventually possess the same traits that you currently only admire from a distance.

The PR Trap vs. Personal Growth

When you act as a "PR channel" for a celebrity, you are wasting your potential. You are talking about their upcoming events while your own life has no "events" worth mentioning.

The PR Fan: "Did you see what he achieved today?"

The High-Value Fan: "I saw how he handled that failure, and I'm going to apply that same resilience to my project today."

One mindset leaves you on the couch; the other puts you in the game.

How to Audit Your Fandom

Stop being a "follower" and start being a "student." Ask yourself these three questions:

What specific quality do I admire in this person? (Is it their discipline, their creativity, or their grit?)

Am I talking about them more than I am working like them? (If the answer is yes, you are a PR agent, not a fan.)

What is one thing they do daily that I can start doing today?

Reclaiming Your Existence

To the organizations behind IPL or WWE, you are a viewer count. To the celebrity, you are a fan in a crowd of millions. They don’t care about your potential—but you should.

You have the authority to improve your life. You have the potential to be the person that others admire. But that only happens when you stop being a "talkative person" who promotes others and start being a "productive person" who builds themselves.

Which quality of your favorite idol do you lack the most right now? If you spent the next 30 days "installing" that quality instead of watching them, how would your life look?
